GARDEN IN COMPORTA

The design was inspired by the surrounding landscape, creating a specific aesthetics that is rooted in the ecological characteristics of the region. Planting of native species was carried out in clusters with mounds that gradually expanded to adjacent areas, fostering natural progression, translated into changeable and transitory scenarios. The main structure is defined by wood walkways with orthogonal lines, slightly raised from the soil to protect the planted native vegetation from trampling. Client requested for visual privacy, a small water tank and cool shades, which were considered and integrated into the design.

The Garden in Comporta won the 1st Prize in the National Landscape Architecture Awards in 2011 and was nominated for the best private plots 2012, in the Internationale Beispiele zu Gartenarchitektur. It is featured in the book Hortus Conclusus – Gardens for Private Homes (2021, Braun Publishing).
